For my birthday last year, I wanted to celebrate and feel young again. So my husband and I went to a local amusement park for the day (with out the kids). 
We had a blast (with out the kids). I was so glad we went in September because we missed the crowds and the heat. We were lucky to ride some rides multiple times in a row. We felt like kids on the loose. I highly recommend this adventure with your spouse if you love roller coasters. It now is a fun birthday date memory for us.
