Green and black guest bedroom

This room is a mix of modern streamline looking bedding and traditional elements like the brown leather bed, paintings, end tables, and accessories. It's attractive and going for a transitional look...not my favorite execution on transitional rooms but is has some things going well worth mentioning.
1. Sure go ahead have different end tables....but kept some consistency with matching lamps and keep the table heights the same!

2. I like the height of the pictures relative to the tables. The shades are a bit big don't ya think? I like that they are complimentary paintings of the same series and not different artists or themes.
3. I like the suede/microfiber bedding on it's own. I love custom bedding don't you?

4. I soft headboards (versus metal). They are a MUST when you read in bed or sit up and nurse a baby.

My dining set is on sale at Big Lots for President's Day!

Do you need new furniture or a mattress? We need a new mattress after almost 10 years so I am checking the ads tonight for one.
President's Day is a great time to buy mattresses, sofa's, dining sets, etc. Guess what? I saw my kitchen table was on sale at Big Lots. We didn't buy it there but it's cheaper, darn it! Oh well we really like it so far. We like this set because it's kid friendly, not too expensive, the faux black leather seats wipe off well, the faux leather bench, and 18" leaf. I measured the table top (without the leaf) and purchased a custom cut glass top. My kids like to dig their forks into wood tables and it would be hammered in a week. I paid about $75 for the custom cut thick glass. I recommend that to anyone with kids or grand kids!

My new sectional sofa!!!!

I promised I would show you my new furniture! I am in love with my new contemporary sectional sofa. I purchased this set with a 7 year stain protectant. If they can't get any stains from any bodily fluid from humans or animals, food, or household stains they have to replace it. That is why I did it folks. The fabric is microfiber and it's great with kids. Seriously GREAT! I love lighter sofas, dark walls, light carpet, dark wood floors. CONTRAST!

Of course I have new design goals for this room:
I want to get a new colorful rug
Colorful accent pillows custom made (after I find the fabric and decide the shapes)
Add more color into this monochromatic space
New drapes that tie in the colors

I LOVE IT!! I joined a book club a few months ago so I have been reading in the chaise lounge at night. It's so great! I got a great deal too. The storage ottoman is on back order so it's not pictured.

Rectangle rug with a circular table-Watch the dimensions.

Did you know it's just fine to put a rectangular rug under a circular table? But on this one they didn't include a large enough rectangular rug. If you slide your chair off the rug to eat dinner you might be lop-sided with some legs on the rug and some on the hardwood floor. That would be annoying. So be mindful spatially and take these considerations when putting rugs under any kitchen tables and chairs. Happy dining.

A home office

Ah isn't this just nice overall design?
It is simple, functional (minus the globe and bottles), and pretty. This is the same configuration of my not so pretty home office off our entry way by the front door. I wish I had a couple hundred dollars to copy this one. I am going to work on my office this winter when the garden is done. Oh and see the curtains just for looks on hooks. That should be a new phrase of mine about window treatments....just for looks on hooks. :0)

A nice wall unit. It's a nice way to display colorful things.

These chairs caught my eye because they look comfortable and are petite. They would fit nice in a tight space. Scale is SOOOOOO important.
