I recommend silver framed vanity mirrors often to my clients. It dresses up a simple bathroom in an instant, much like this photo. I find the spring green wall color refreshing. Every room needs some sparkle. In this photo it is a silver basket of washcloths, a silver frame over the commode, silver hardware and fixtures, and the silver framed mirror. I believe a bit of shine and sparkle help complete a well designed room of any style.

Pretty. We just finished painting both bathrooms. I wanted to frame our mirrors, but we can't seem to find the right material to do it with, that isn't costing an arm and a leg. My parents have their mirrors done in a darker, almost acrylic frame and I liked that but can't seem to find anything like it at Lowes and HD. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki.
ReplyDeleteDid you look at the preprimed wood moldings at Lowes or HD. The plain MDF boards can be cut to fit nicely too. I prefer the less ornate pieces (the ones with less grooves-like flat MDF boards). I don't want to see a typical colonial profiled wood base molding glued on the mirror for instance. The unpredictable is more interesting. Be sure to calculate where you want the trim to be glued...directly to the mirror, or the wall butting up to the mirror, or on the mirror overhanging and how will that look? Once it's stuck with mirror glue it is stuck! Take these measurements to HD or Lowes. Cut the wood once selected to fit and of course miter the corners. Then the decorative part-Spray paint it a matte silver, antique brown, or gold leaf it. I went to Michaels and found some great spray paint ideas. Have fun. Thanks for asking.
