We choose to use our hot water bath canner outside on our camp chef stove on our deck. 
It saves energy, doesn't heat up our house, and the boiling over flow of water is on the deck instead of my kitchen floor. I got this camp chef stove at Intermountain Farmer's in Utah....on a 2008 BLACK Friday deal for about $89.00 (I think). It was $$ well spent this summer. I will be checking out their ad for sure for Black Friday 2009! You should too fellow canning ladies.
